Providing responsive, intuitive and hands-on loving care in the Greater Los Angeles area,
Malibu &
San Fernando Valley.
Feeling supported and empowered through my three births and subsequent postpartum periods inspired me to want to support families in creating the kind of birth and postpartum experiences they desire.
I am trained as a birth and postpartum doula as well as a lactation counselor/educator. I am certified as a birth doula by DONA International.
I love walking alongside you through pregnancy and birth, and offering education, meal preparation and other postpartum support in those crucial first weeks.
My goal is for you to feel protected, safe, and supported in your choices. I strive to help prepare you for birth by tapping into your innate strength and intuition, to help you attain the information you need and to provide emotional and physical support for you and your partner before, during, and after birth.
Hi, I’m Eldrid!
I was born and raised in Norway and grew up in a family of nurses and doctors. Being the oldest of many siblings and cousins, and adoring babies as I did, my plan was to train as a midwife. As a teenager I was an exchange student in Maine when I met my husband. After studying voice, languages and acting, performing as a singer took me in a different direction for many years. I happily put that on hold to be a mother and became drawn to and inspired to be involved in birth work after my 3 boys were born. I adore being around growing and new families.
I love to hike, knit, bake and make sure to create a lot of space in my life for our wonderful friends. My husband and I both love to cook yummy dinners and equally adore sharing meals with friends and family.
Whether you choose to give birth in a hospital, a birth center or to have a home birth, my work is to be a respectful and supportive presence, guiding you through this most powerful time of your life.
What is a doula and what do we do?
According to DONA International (a doula organization) doulas are trained, experienced professionals who provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to mothers before, during, and after childbirth. Doulas view their role as nurturing and protecting a woman’s memory of the birth experience.
My Services
Birth Package
My service includes two prenatal visits, attending your birth and one postpartum visits. As an experienced doula who has personally gone through the transformative journey of birth and supported numerous clients, I am here to provide you with unwavering support, guidance, and empowerment throughout your birthing experience.
BEFORE BIRTH
Starting at two weeks before birth, I will be on call and available 24/7 via text, phone, and email, ensuring that you can reach out to me anytime, day or night, with questions, worries, or simply for reassurance. Drawing from my wealth of experience, I will equip you with a range of invaluable tools and techniques. Together, we will discuss your hopes, desires, and concerns, creating a personalized birth plan/birth preferences.
DURING BIRTH
I will guide you and your partner through each stage of labor - from breathing exercises, massage and relaxation techniques to discovering optimal laboring positions and implementing comfort measures. Together, we will create a peaceful and supportive environment that fosters your physical and emotional well-being.
AFTER BIRTH
My commitment extends beyond the birth itself. Following your baby's arrival, I will visit you for a postpartum session, where we will debrief the birth experience, address any questions or concerns you may have, and offer guidance on breastfeeding. As a trained lactation counselor and educator, I will provide valuable support as you embark on your breastfeeding journey. I am also able to provide resources for bodyworkers, lactation support, placenta encapsulation and therapists as requested.
